Trevor Day Calling at White Rose Squares 41st Birthday Dance

Considering that it was only February, the unseasonal weather gave us a sunny day more appropriate to early summer and unwittingly supported our Birthday Tea Dance Theme. The Caller booked to help us celebrate was Trevor Day, of Lune Valley Squares, and he produced an afternoon crammed full of lively, varied music which the 4+ squares of dancers made the most of.

Trevor's songs were a delight, often with a good clear beat that made it easy for newer dancers to follow. He started with the amusing ''Although it's Hard to be Humble, I'm Doing the Best I Can!''. Trevor Called in a clear buoyant style, and soon the dancers were singing along too. Then followed a lively version of ''Hummingbird'', ''Prisoner'' gave us some lovely saxophone accompaniment. Dancing to '' The Night has a 1000 Eyes'' with music from ''The Parade of the Tin Soldiers'' to follow, we were treated to a lovely afternoon of Mainstream, and Plus dancing. As the lyrics of one song said: ''Won't you Stand Up and Take a Bow?''!

In a hall decorated with bunting, and with pot luck ''Afternoon-Tea Style'', plus a raffle, we had a great Dance.
