White Rose Squares 46th Birthday Dance 24th February 2024

We celebrated our 46th year with a Dance Called by Di Green, who has extensive experience square dance Calling throughout the UK, Europe and the USA. Di has her own club at Nottingham and Calls regularly at Lune Valley Ocean Weavers and Chain Reaction in Lancashire.

 For our Dance Di switched seamlessly between tips for all levels of dancers with varied  Social Square Dancing (SSD) for newer dancers, Mainstream and Plus. (She is also able to Call from A to C (Challenge). Di has Called previous White Rose Dances for us in 2014 and 2017, as well as other dances. She treated us to a special Singing Call of ''The Rose'' for White Rose Squares for our 46th. Other highlights were ''Quicksand'' ''Easily Fall in Love with You'' and ''Edge of Glory''. What a lovely dance. There was good attendance and a full hall, with 5 squares and a few spare, and dancers from Lancashire and Nottinghamshire. It was particularly nice to have a group of SSD Dancers travel over from Yorkshire Coast Weavers to take part in this Dance, having recently completed the full SSD program, and also a younger dancer - as proficient as everyone else.

Our club members, as usual, shared the work to help the Dance to run smoothly, and we had a pot luck afternoon tea and raffle.

The February weather was kind on the day, with blue skies!
